Countdown

We are down to mama dog and one puppy. The other three pups went to their new homes this week.

It gets easier each time to let them go.

I thought mama dog might feel bad seeing them go. Usually, the mama dogs leave us first, so I haven't seen how they react to losing their babies.

Well, let me tell you, she is thrilled. Thrilled. Literally jumping for joy. I guess I overestimated how much she enjoyed cleaning up after her children.

The last little pup should be gone next week, and then it is party time for the mama dog. She will get her youthful figure back, and maybe find her own happy home.

Formal Portraits - Six Weeks

These are the photos I sent for the pups "formal" photos for the adoption site...

Spock:

Kirk:

With their size and good looks, they probably will be adopted quickly! :)

Mama Abby's Portrait

I don't know how old she is, but she is a sweetie. She was pulled from the Los Angeles County Shelter in Carson, CA. She came to us weighing 13 pounds, but is now up to 17 pounds.

She has been an impeccable mother, absolutely devoted to her puppies, and I hope she gets an awesome home where she can be babied herself for a change.

If Looks Could Kill...

Abby really is a sweet dog...really.

Thankfully, her kids are a little more photogenic!

My Shadow

Abby, the mama foster dog is starting to spend more time away from her puppies. She is following me. Everywhere.

Click, click, click, her tiny feet patter behind me. She watches every move of my hand, waiting for the liver treat to miraculously appear in my fingers.

Her adoption bio should be easy to write: New home MUST have treats. The end.

Maddie, three weeks old:

Kirk's cough is gone, but now Spock, Sophie and Maddie are all sick. The sound of puppies coughing fills the house. Well, at least once the kids turn their music down. :)

People Puppies

Maddie and Spock, with Kirk hiding behind them:

The interesting thing about this batch of puppies is that they whine and cry to be held. These are the first pups that we have had that actually seek out human interaction (beyond attacking our slippers).

All signs point to the puppies turning out to be excellent pets. Everyone loves a lap dog!

Mama dog is a bit clingy for my tastes, but I am sure someone will enjoy her following them around all day! Can't type anymore 'cause she is whining for me...x_x

Three Weeks Old

Looking at these photos, I can see they have inherited their mom's underbite.

Daisy with Spock:

Right after I took these pics, Daisy stepped on little Sophie's tail. Puppy started screaming, Daisy and Jane tried to console her, and Mama dog decided they were trying to kill her puppy and freaked out. Basically, there was shrieking and shaking until I finally got the courage to reach into the fray and pick up the melodramatic puppy. I still have all of my fingers and Sophie is fine. :)
