Breed Report

For all of the families who adopted Duckie's Puppies...Pooma's (Bravo) parents had a genetic breed test done. Here are the results:

Let me know if any of you test the other puppies. :)

A Visit From Kooger

The people that came to see the puppies today brought their sweet dog, Kooger.

Alpha destroyed any hope of being adopted by literally shrieking when he saw the dog. He then ran and hid. Not cool.

Jethro barked at Kooger like crazy.

They ended up choosing Bravo because she was the most comfortable with Kooger.

Alpha and Jethro are gonna need a little pep talk before the next adopters arrive. They need to put their best foot forward and stop acting like little maniacs. :)

*Sniff*

Hope and Oso have been adopted.

They both went to wonderful homes, but I miss their little faces.

Hope went yesterday to a home with two kids and a cat. Her new owners emailed me today to say that she was settling in well.

The couple that came over today wanted Alpha. Well, we have had a time with Alpha and his barking, so when I saw that they lived in an apartment and were first time dog owners, I had to speak up.

We put Alpha in the pen and did a little demonstration of what he sounds like when he wants attention. So they ended up taking Oso. He is the quietest and mellowest of the litter, and will probably be a great apartment dweller.

It felt good to help them make a choice, but it meant they took my little Oso.

We are definitely keeping Nai-Nai. She already fits right in and it is like she has been here all along. She has the most adorable bark. She sounds like one of those toy dogs. And she will roll on her back and play with you like a cat.

So tomorrow we have another person coming to see the puppies. She is bringing her other dog along to see which puppy will be most compatible, so it should be fun.

Aunt Jane

Aunt Jane gets to enjoy the fun part of parenting...but doesn't have
to do any of the work!

Formal Portraits

The puppies are going to be fixed next week, then they will be ready for their new homes. These ones are gonna be hard to get over! They are all so sweet. This has been the most enjoyable fostering experience.

Since we are keeping Nai-Nai, we will probably take some time off from fostering until she is a bit older and has all of her vaccinations. I think Daisy and Jane need a break, too. They always get a little stressed when there are little ones chasing them around. :)

Puppy Pen Playtime

Mama Duckie is so done with these pups. She has been hiding under the furniture so they can't find her. One night after we let her out to potty, Tim found her sleeping outside to avoid coming back to her family.

Finally...

...it is cooling off. It is still warm during the day, but at night it is nice.
